Metals
Ferrous Metals
Ferrous metals are those metals which contain iron. They may have small amounts of other metals or other elements added, to give the required properties. All ferrous metals are magnetic and give little resistance to corrosion. Most commonly used ferrous metals are Mild Steel, High Speed Steel, High Tensile Steel and Cast Iron.
Non-ferrous metals are those metals which do not contain iron. They are non-magnetic and are usually more resistant to corrosion than ferrous metals. Most commonly used non-ferrous metals are aluminium, copper, brass, lead, stainless steel, gilding metal and zinc.

Copper Products
Copper is a ductile metal and is used as an electrical conductor and thermal conductor.
Recycling copper is not only economically viable but helps preserve the environment and non-renewable resources.
There are still sizeable reserves of copper, but there is not enough that can be mined and extracted to sustain present rates of consumption. Present high demand versus supply has caused prices to rise sharply.

Aluminium Products
Aluminium is one of the most versatile materials that can be recycled.
It is 100% recyclable and can be melted down and reformed without losing any quality. The process can be repeated over and over

Stainless Steel
Stainless steel products are designed for a long life – typically several decades. Indeed, this is often the reason for selecting stainless steel in the first place. However, there will come a time when the product has reached the end of its useful life.
In many of these cases, the stainless steel has suffered little degradation and still contains the high value of the initial alloying elements such as chromium, nickel and molybdenum. This makes it a valuable source of those constituents to the stainless steel producer and a high proportion of material going into the melting furnace is usually recycled. Therefore there are well established systems to collect and recycle stainless steel. This includes trimmings and other scrap which arise during manufacturing of stainless steel products.

Lead
Lead enjoys one of the highest recycling rates of all materials in common use today. This is a result of its fundamental properties, good design and the ways in which it is used, which make lead-based products easily identifiable and economic to collect and recycle.
Household Cable
Prices will vary according to type of cable due to percentage of copper content, e.g, grey household cable is usually worth more than standard appliance cord or coaxial cable.
Low Grade Cable
Low grade cable is insulated copper wire with a low copper recovery. Examples of low grade are as follows. USB cables, RCA cables, Speaker wire, power cords with the plug ends left on, computer ribbon cable, most car wiring harnesses, telephone cords, s-video cables, HDMI cables, mouse and keyboard cords, ac adaptor cords and anything with a low copper content (lots of insulation little copper).
Brass
The brass industry throughout the world depends on the recycling of brass scrap for its survival. Making brass from new copper and zinc would be uneconomical and wasteful of raw materials so, since new brass articles are made from recycled scrap, brass is said to be sustainable. In the UK brass manufacturers use almost 100% brass scrap.
Payment Options
To combat metal theft, the purchase of scrap metal with cash has been outlawed. This came into effect in December 2012.
We can pay you by cheque or transfer the amount directly into your bank account.
